Bobwhite House Renovation

We finished our renovations…

We had a narrow 2-week windows to do several kitchen and master bathroom renovations on our rental property, Karen’s old house. We wanted to upgrade the kitchen with granite countertops, new sink and faucet, and new paint on all the cabinets. In the master bathroom, the walk-in shower has had a persistent leak causing water damage to the floor below. This was determined to be faulty plumbing to the original shower. Unfortunately, this was under the shower so the shower pan had to be removed. To do that, the complete shower stall had to be removed, wall tiles removed, shower pan removed all down to the studs and floor joists. Total demolition. We ordered a new shower system since the process of removal would not lend itself to reinstalling the old shower. This installation included relocated plumbing supply and drain lines, new cement backerboard, new water barrier, new tiles, new shower surround and shower panel. Lots of heavy lifting, cutting, mortar, grout, tile, careful positioning of the two 3-foot by 6-foot 150-pound glass shower panels. It was 10-12 hours every day for the whole two weeks but we finished just as the new tenants moved in. We’ve decided we don’t want new careers as plumbing and renovation contractors but we are glad to see it finished and we think it looks much better than before.
