Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio

Frank Lloyd Wright built his first house on Chicago Avenue in Oak Park, adding additional living space later and his work studio. This was the first house he built when he was just in his early 20’s. We learned a lot about his style and life. (Earlier this year when we were in Arizona we visited his home there, which he had built in his later years). He originally built the house in 1885, when Oak Park was a distant suburb of Chicago, it was at the end of the green “L” train line. He added to it in 1898. The Frank Lloyd Wright Trust was able to buy it back and restore it in the early 80’s. There were several houses in the area that FLW had designed. We started to walk to see them, but the wind was COLD! We got in the car and Geoff drove us by them. FLW had a very distinctive design flair.
