Day 3– Monday Sept 10 – Juneau

We had a beautiful day in Juneau…The skies were clear and the weather about 58 degrees. There were two goals for the day…Mendenhall Glacier, with a walk to the waterfalls and a 1800 ft. trip up the tram.

We took a Shuttle to the Glacier. The driver, a local, had good stories to keep us entertained and he educated us too! The Glacier trails were a typical NW rainforest. Lush, green, water running in streams and trickling water falls, it was breathtaking. (the views, not the hike…the hike was flat) What was breathtaking was the sighting of a mother bear and two babies, just 20 feet in front of us. We were crossing a bridge and they were in the stream right off the bridge
