Before and After our Cruise

Before: On Friday morning, we got an early start, our drive to Seattle was beautiful. Blue skies, light traffic, a nice easy drive.

After checking in at the Hilton, we jumped on the Seattle light rail. The system is new and the ride was scenic. The rails are above the ground and you have a magnificent view of the country and city. Another plus, no parking nor worries about driving in the city.

We went to the King Tut exhibit. The relics were amazing. I was not aware that figurines of servants were placed in the tomb with the King, and when he reached the other side he could say the magical name inscribed on the figurine and it would come alive to serve him in the afterlife. The amount of stuff they found in his tomb puts a whole new spin on hoarding!

After the exhibit, we walked the waterfront, had dinner there and took the light rail back to the hotel…ready for the morning.

Saturday Sept 8 – Departure: We got to the ship about 12:00, having been delivered by a hotel shuttle. We had plenty of time to explore the ship and unpack, even before we set sail. Our luggage got there before we did!

The weather was perfect. The water was glass smooth and the view of Seattle breathtaking.

Sunday Sept 9 – Heading North at Sea: Our first full day at sea, started out beautiful. I thought we would be able to see land along the way, but , no.

As the day progresses the weather got cloudier and the water rougher. By afternoon Wayne was testing the Dramamine. By, early evening he declared it’s effect less than desired. We tried the ship’s meds. Wayne thought they were better. It could have been the combination. They said he couldn’t OD and he’d just fall asleep…which he did. Turns out it was a good day to be sick…A day at sea is a little boring and Wayne was suffering for withdrawal. He was not able to connect to a computer all day!!

I saw a beautiful double rainbow!
