We did it—we finished the 2012 Bridge Pedal!

We challenged ourselves to do the annual Providence Bridge Pedal. They close a lane on all ten bridges in Portland for a Sunday morning in August and create routes that take you over 6, 8, or 10 bridges. We signed up for the 10-bridge, 36-mile one but later thought that may a little aggressive for a first time effort so backed off to the 8-bridge, 25-mile route. This was still formidable and we got to go on several high bridges with excellent views like Freemont, Marquam, and St. Johns. The longest stretch is the route to the St Johns and back, the second to last bridge. The last one is the Freemont and we barely made the time deadline. We had been delayed by a v-e-r-y s-l-o-w freight train that blocked the path at two locations. But we made it and lived to tell the story.
