Our Hike up Saddle Mountain
On August 1, 2012 we hiked the 2.5 mile trail to the top of Saddle Mountain. The summit is an elevation of 3283’, a gain of 1630’ from the trailhead at 1650’. We experienced a variety of micro-climates on the way up and down—rain in some areas, sun, fog, warm, and cool. At the summit we were above the clouds so could only see the top of nearby mountains and not the ocean. The trail of quite steep near the top. Wire mesh over gravel makes traction secure, some with a cable railing alongside, some without.
