Where Are The Gardens | Map of Gardens

The Butchart Gardens is located on Vancouver Island, 23 km (14 miles) north of Victoria, and 20 km (12.5 miles) south of the Vancouver-Victoria ferry terminal at Swartz Bay. Our street address is 800 Benvenuto Avenue in Brentwood Bay.

Hours and Rates

We are open every day of the year at 9 a.m. except for Christmas day when we open at 1 p.m.

You can drive, cycle, walk, boat, take a taxi, a limo or public transit, or even arrive by chartered float plane to The Gardens.

We have a large paved car parking lot, plus another large paved area for buses and RVs. We have designated short term parking for both taxis and public buses.

Parking is free.

Admission Rates

Come see what more than 50 gardeners can do. Backed up by some 200 staff in visitor and food services in the off-peak season and 500 in the peak season, you can be assured your visit to The Gardens will be an amazing experience.

Admission rates are quoted in Canadian dollars and are subject to 12% HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) to March 31st. As of April 1st the HST will be replaced by a 5% GST (Goods & Services tax.)

1Groups of 25 or more adults who arrive by bus and pay together in one sum are offered a discounted rate. The bus driver and tour escort are admitted to The Gardens free of charge. For groups of 24 or fewer, the regular adult rate applies.

Re-Admission to the Gardens

Same Day — Please have your hand stamped at the Information Centre before departure and present your individual ticket upon return. Next Day — Please have your hand stamped at the Information Centre before departure. The Gardens staff will collect your original admission ticket and issue a new re-admission ticket. The fee for this next day service is $3.50 plus tax - Adults, $2.50 plus tax - Youth, and $1.00 plus tax - Child. Only one re-admission is permitted and re-admission is not permitted on Fireworks Saturdays or on Special Event Days.

During our peak visitor season, July and August, we can experience congestion on our paths and facilities prior to 3:00 pm. Why not come in the afternoon and stay on to dusk and enjoy the Night Illuminations?
