Victoria Vacation - June 20-24, 2013
We spent an enjoyable few days on a mini-vacation in Victoria BC. A total of a seven and a half-hour trip from Portland to Victoria including the 90-minute ferry crossing at Port Angeles, Washington. We stayed at the Gatsby Mansion, a historic building just across from the ferry landing and a few-minute walk to the inner harbor, the Empress Hotel and many places to see. Our room had a balcony off the sitting room with a great view of the harbor and downtown; we would sit at the end of the day with our glass of wine and watch the activity, tour busses and people walking by. Butchart Gardens was its usual excellent self with everything in bloom. A fun 3-mile walk along the Songhees walkway northwest of the inner harbor gave us great views of Victoria and nature.
