Gumgardeners Study Club Meeting Notes from September 23, 2013

EMAIL:  Advised people to add our gumgardeners@gmail.com account to their contacts.

WEATHER POLICY:  During inclement weather we will follow the PCC Sylvania Campus closure schedule. If the college is delayed we will still meet. If the campus is closed, we will not meet. There will be a group email on the Gum Gardeners Website available for members.

CE Verification: Please contact Joclyn Thornburg if you need CE verified.

BUSINESS NOTES and ITEMS TO VOTE ON:

  • Increasing Membership quantity from 80 to100.
    • -Due to new location with additional seating
    • -Will help fund the increased cost of CPR and honorarium
    • -Keeps membership dues low

 

Val Alder asked for a motion to accept.

Joclyn Thornburg moved to accept.

Motion was seconded and voted on.

The motion was accepted.

  • Increase in Membership Dues from $60 -$70 beginning study club year of 2014-2015.
    • Due to increased cost of CPR.
    • Would like to increase honorarium.

 

Val Alder asked for a motion to accept.

Diane Mattson moved to accept.

Motion was seconded and voted on.

The motion was accepted.

  • Increase in Honorarium from $200 to $250
    • Has not increased for many years.
    • Increase in membership allows us to compensate our speakers for their time.

Meeting Notes from November 25, 2013

Co-President  Valerie Alder unable to attend this evening.

Not an official meeting.

 

Announcements:

Jennifer announced CPR signup for January meeting.

Joclyn reminded people to check the roster sheet to ensure correct contact info.

 

Prior to announcements, Diane Mattson asked Jennfier if she could talk about the Women and Children’s Program at the Union Gospel Mission. Diane was looking for individual donations or a donation from Gum Gardeners toward Union Gospel Mission. Jennifer informed Diane that no group donations were being made until after the Officer’s meeting in January when the donation process would be clarified among the Treasurer and Officers. Diane said she was ok with only soliciting individual donations.

After Diane’s announcement Carolyn Alford made a motion from her seat for the Gum Gardener’s Study Club to donate $500 to the Union Gospel Mission. Joyce Rankin seconded the motion. Another member called for a vote and it was passed.

 

Speaker for the Evening:

Dr. Daniel Petrisor from Sunset Oral Surgeons spoke on Oral Pathology.

He asked that his speaker fee be donated to Diane’s recommended charity.

 

Donation:

A donation was made in Dr. Daniel Petrisor’s name and from the Gum Gardener’s Study Club totaling $750 towards the Women and Children’s Program at Union Gospel Mission.
