Paris - Day 7 - Sacre Ceour & Montmartre

Today we took a bus up to the Montmartre district. This is the area for Sacre-Coeur (the big white, gothic looking domes in all the pictures) and the Moulin Rouge. We took Rick Steve’s walking tour, past the house Van Gogh lived in for 2 year before Auver sur Oise, and also Toulouse-Lautrec and Picasso’s studio. The area was crowded. These were the biggest crowded yet. It was a Sunday at a religious site so we were expecting it. Actually the tour of the Sacre Coeur was fast and interesting. The area is beautiful. We ended up not going into the dome because the ticket office was closed and the machine only took cards with a special chip which US cards do not have. (Darn, missed climbing 300 more steps!) Took a bus back to our apt. rested and visited the festival going on outside of our apt. Turns out besides the music we had been hearing, there also was a wine cheese chocolate fair! A good time for all! Then a walk up to a new shopping area, the famous Monfetard Street; food, scarves, etc. Three new scarves for Karen, oh and a bag, and back to the Metro bar for a beer (and pomme frites for Wayne!) and home again for wine bread cheese and chocolate!
